Young people at the centre of powerful new vaping campaign
Vaping is a serious issue that is having a significant impact on students and young people.
The Australian and state governments are taking action to encourage young people to consider the proven health harms of vaping, such as nicotine addiction, lung damage, breathlessness, nicotine poisoning and burns from exploding vapes.
As Minister for Health Mark Butler says: 'Vaping was sold to governments and communities around the world as a therapeutic product to help long-term smokers quit. It was not sold as a recreational product - especially not one targeted to our kids but that is what it has become.'
The Government is proposing stronger regulation and enforcement of all e-cigarettes, including new controls on their importation, contents and packaging.
